The Wedding Ring Shawl is DONE!

This morning I had 6 points to go and decided I was going to finish it today. Now it is done done done!!!!!
The pattern is by Sharon Miller from Heirloom Knitting. It is project #16 with a limited number of patterns available. I used Shetland cobweb yarn and needles size 2.5 mms. Started in late August 2005 and finished it TODAY. It will be worn as a bridal shawl by my cousin Maria Jose who is getting married by late Summer. I still have to block it and dress it but it is done, done, done!
It is knitted lace, meaning every row is a pattern row. When I was working on the border it would take me 2 hours to knit a row. The points for the edge took 20 minutes each.
I am very happy with the shawl, it is a piece of art and if I am not mistaken and according to Sharon, I am the first person to finish it after her of course. Click to see more pictures here.I will post more pictures when I block it.

Many, many congratulations - it looks beautiful now, and I can't wait until we get to see if fully blocked and dressed. (And done in under a year, gives hope to all the rest of us WRS knitters, that it is achievable!)

Gorgeous, plain and simple. Congratulations! What amazes me the most is that you did this for a cousin's wedding. I hope she appreciates all the work that went into it. It is spectacular.

Wow Laritza, that is amazing, you must feel totally awesome about finishing it.
I will start mine as soon as I finish the Princess shawl, I have no idea when that will be as I keep getting distracted by too many other things.

Again, awesome, and I hope you continue to make beautiful eye candy for us to drool over.

Stunning! Well done, you. I can't wait to see it blocked. I've ordered the silk for mine - should be here tomorrow. I can't think I'll be as quick as you. You have created a true heirloom.

An absolutely phenomenal piece of work. Even unblocked, it is a work of art and you are the very first! Congratulations for a terrific achievement.

Ted Myatt, Franklin Habit, me and my friend Loopy are all starting this shawl this month. We'll be writing about it on a joint blog, The Wedding Ring Chronicles. I've pointed my readers to your blog because you were truly the pioneer, besides Sharon, of course.
