Software Updates

Just a word of warning. My cell phone was acting up, freeeeezing and shutting off just because. I called the service provider and they told me it was 2 years "old" and it was time to get a new one. Yeah right! at $xxx when the figure goes beyond two spaces you have to think about it twice.
I went looking for solutions online and surprise! they have SOFTWARE UPDATES that claim to fix the bugs I was experiencing. I installed the upgrades, did not loose any data......that I know of so far.........and it seems to have fixed the bugs. I will find out soon enough I guess.
Same thing happened with my MP3 player. It was acting up, would not let me erase songs or books for that matter. Went looking and sure enough the software update fixed it in no time. Painless and FREE.....well not really I paid for the stuff already didn't I?
Be sure and check for updates before you go pay them more money!
On another topic:
I am working on compiling a list of really neat crafts software. Stuff that can make your life easier with pattern generation, color management and things like that. I will post it all when I finish up a decent list.
Gotta love OpenSource!

I'm sick of the concept of "old" hardware, be it computer or other electronics. It's the whole throwaway mentality. But I guess we all buy into it by having to have the latest version of stuff. I can't wait to see your list of software recommendations!

I too can't wait to see your suggestions for software. I'm much too afraid of falling behind not to try to keep up with what is current. Still, it gets tiresome.
