It can now be revealed!

At last!
I had to hold off showing this piece because it was for our Spinners Guild annual fiber exchange. It was a secret, no one knows who has your fiber or what will become of it until you get the finished piece. Each one of the participants brings 8 oz of fiber, the exchange partner spins it and makes the garment. We usually have a theme and I tend to stick to it for the most part. This year it was "a vest".

I spun the fiber with a woven piece in mind. Designed the cloth, dyed the weft and set to weave. In the mean time I had the pattern for the vest, made the muslin and talked to a couple of friends so I would have help when cutting time came.
By the time I was half way done with the weaving I could not even think of cutting it. The final decision came when I pulled it out of the washer in the final stage of wet finishing. There was no way on earth I was going to cut the cloth! I love the drape, the colors, the patterns.
Rules broken and all, I sent it to the "exchange ceremony" as a "lap throw". The recipient is one of the few male members of our guild. He can spin, knit and sew. I left it up to him if he wants to make the vest. NOT ME!

I don't blame you for not wanting to cut the fabric. It's gorgeous. And I bet that a lap throw will get a lot more use than a vest. :)

I wouldn't cut that, either. It will be perfect as a throw.

Laritza, it's lovely! After investing so much of yourself into it, I don't blame you for not wanting to cut it!

Now that is nice :) I've been wanting to make a vest and wove some cloth for it yesterday. I am at the I don't want to cut stage myself :)
