Princess!

The pattern arrieved this week. It is a lovely booklet with lots of information on Shetland shawls. The 2007 release has a square version and two different center patterns to chose from.
I started knitting with Shetland Supreme one ply and 1.5 mms needles. Knit two points and did not like the cloth, it was too dense. I like it a lot better with 2 mms needles. So far I have 6 points.
The first batch is 85 points, 29 stitches per row and 20 rows per point. I timed the last two and it takes me 25 minutes to knit 20 rows. That is a minute and a hair per row. It is highly doubtful that I can knit any faster. It all comes down to 40 days for 85 points. Round it up to two months.
My camera is in the shop in its annual cleaning so no pictures for at least 3 weeks.

There is a Ravelry group with plenty of us swatching and deciding on what to do.
Jane has started hers and so has missalicefaye. I bet missalicefaye has a lot more points 5 days later!

This is going to be a long and fun knitting!

The longest journey begins with the first step...

Swatched the purple, still waiting for the coral.

I think I passed 32 last night--it's very tempting to go with the 62-repeat border.... Have you considered that option?

I don't even want to think of how fast missalicefay knits. I have whiplash just watching her :-) I'm on US 0 needles so I was thining of going with the 62 repeat border just so my shawl does not end up big enough to eat New York.

Hi! I was wondering about the Shetland supreme, and it seems so new that almost no one has it yet! The HK website says that it's got more of a halo to it. Would you describe it as having more clear or fuzzy stitch definition? I'm trying to figure out if it will work for a pair of mittens I'm making!
