Even in the perfect world things do fail. I have been working on this warp to weave a horoscope shawl. I dyed 12 colors, wound up the whole thing, beamed, threaded tied it up and started weaving....hum a couple of threads broke...repair threads, resume. More broken threads. Repair threads, loosen the tension, weave...more broken threads. Stand back and think! I have woven with this yarn.....or have I?
Nope this yarn is not the same! It is from a different batch! I have never woven with it!
Close inspection.....magnifying glass....it does not have enough twist! What was I thinking?! This yarn can not be used for weft!
Plan B:
Recreate the cross. Tie. Wind off. Ship warp to friend. I have to get this thing out of my house and a mail package is better than the trash can. She might be able to turn this into something.
In the mean time I need to:
1. Sell the loom?....... nope I am not a quitter. Plus I have proven that I can actually weave. There are no reports of stuff falling apart yet.....
2. Wind another warp that will work and give me back my weaving spirit.
Lesson learned: yarn is not to be taken for granted.
Every time I think I have made just about every single mistake a weaver can make I come up across a new one.

Blue ribbon winners are NOT failures!! My friends who don't knit see me knitting socks and say, "those are 6 pair for $5.99 at Wally World....What ARE you doing?" Psssh, I say! The soul is transformed by hand made things, because the soul of the maker is evident within. You weave for a reason. Perhaps that is it? Chin up and blue skies!
We learn more from our failures than our successes. The colours looked so beautiful. You have to make this shawl.
How frustrating. Get a new project on the loom quickly - perhaps for the MMAWG challenge.

Get back on that weaving horse! This is just a small blip in your creative history. Your aborted attempts are more spectacular than most of my sucessful projects :-) The next time you start it will be much more satisfying to have a sound warp!
Oh my, I am learning that lesson too. Thank you for mentioning mangling on my first tracking post. If I had one, you can bet that I would have given it a try! However, it did remind me of my grandmother. She used to mangle her bedsheets. Ah, what pleasant memories.
Oh no! Warp the loom for another shawl......any 'ol properly spun warp and find a wonderfully soft weft. Call it your comfort shawl. You'll feel better while weaving it off (a success) and wearing it (a comfort).
