International Year of Natural Fibers 2009

It will not be too long before all we have left is plastic, remember that plastic comes from petroleum aka oil and you know how that part goes.

Check these out:

Royal Brierley factory to close

Fox Valley Leather Company in North Salt Lake City: closed

Historic Brigham City mill burns; community suspects arson

To make matters worse Romi has a post with scary facts in reference to toys including those made in the USA.

I urge knitters, weavers, spinners all fiber artists to help promote the
International Year of Natural Fibers 2009

I can't work with acrylic, it hurts my hands and gives me goose bumps!

Informative Note:

I contacted the IYONF organization and they said we can use the logo and help promote it as long as there is no commercial interest in doing so. Feel free to take the icon an post it on your website. But please do stream from your own website.

I also contacted them to ask them if Bamboo yarn falls in the category of natural fibers. Sadly it does not. I suspected so, but was in denial.

Bamboo isn't a natural fiber? Hmm, I sure have a lot of plastic plants out the back door here.
