There are things that are OK and some that are not! These socks are NOT. This is Plymouth sockotta yarn color #15. It looks lovely in the skein but:
I just can not go on. Since I have two skeins the yarn might end up turning into a woven scarf or something else. Ripped, check, continue.

I hate to say it, but I think you made the right choice :) Why keep knitting something you know will make you unhappy.

I think they'd be OK if it weren't for the huge zig-zags. And the randomness of the zig-zags.
definitely the right choice....
Is that blood in my eyeball? Yes!
Oh. Dear. Finish them and give them to charity. That's what I do with the color losers. Or finish them and dye them, um, dark red? The same color that's oozing out of my eyeballs just now.
The colors don't seem that bad, but the zig zags... I've never seen yarn do that before, how odd! I think you made the right choice.
The right choice in my opinion. I do the same, when I don't like what I knit.
You made the right choice. All I can say was "What the heck were they thinking?" Will be much better as a a ripple scarf or something.
Whoa, dude! Psychedelic! ;)
I'm always disappointed in how these lovely yarns knit up. One thing that helped a little was alternating rows with a solid color matching yarn. A friend of mine alternates two completely different variegated yarns with excellent results. Scroll down on this post to see what I mean.
I like them.
If they fit well, overdye. A dyepot can overcome an amazing range of color problems. I'm thinking navy... I've overdyed woven painted warps that started out incredibly ugly but became quite likable.
BTW, if you ever do find the perfect toe-up sock pattern, please do let me know. I also dislike the top-down method, for the same reasons, but like the shape of the traditional top-down heel with gusset & heel flap.
And thanks for your kind comments on my blog!
Ick indeed.
